I lived in Cathedral City for 5 years. Had a plunge pool and enjoyed outdoor living with the sun high enough in the winter to enjoy. Yes, it was miserable for 4 or 5 months but 24/7 air conditioning and solar made it livable. The people overall friendly enough, but because indoors often, due to heat, might take awhile to make friends. 😊

11th reason? Crowded with old, alcoholic queers.

I used to go every year for a week or two in December-January. But I don't go anymore because the small town Desert ambiance is long gone. It's too modern like OC and LA and it's too gay.

PS has changed a lot post-covid and NOT for the better. I live there. Many good restaurants and historically popular stores closed down. Gelson's sold to people who don't have the same quality. Gangs have taken up residence and often engage in street take-overs and shoot-outs. Both the ice rink and the water parked are out of business. There is a shortage of doctors and veterinarians. We have So Cal Edison and during the summer, it is not unusual for electric bills to double and triple!! I could go on but if you are considering moving here, DO YOUR DUE DILLIGENCE!!!!

If you go when its cool in the season, the place will be packed. If you want the short wait go when its off season and getting hot.............

You forgot to mention that Palm Springs is to 40% a retirement community. So a lot of older folks driving like it is Sunday all the time. Spent a few months in fall there the other year and another thing that was thoroughly baffling was that all restaurants seem to close by 8pm - so better go for an early dinner if at all.

Definitely want to own my own land.

I live out here 14 years. Now that I am over 70 since I moved here, the heat is exhausting for my health. I am a singer that have to carry sound equipment to set up for a show, so it's hard. The winds have become so strong that my allergies are the worst now, especially for someone who sings.

Theres definitely some safe parts in dhs, Just know the gas stations are filled up with crack heads😉 mostly every night. And this guy is only listing the good stuff that goes on in dhs. There is violence, gangs, drugs.

Still totally unaffordable as far as I am concerned. I barely earn $20,000.00 a year, there is no viable way that I could afford to either visit or live in Palm Springs.

A customer of mine told me she had a vacation house in Palm Desert and she thought you could really live pretty cheaply in retirement there, but Palm desert has a lower sales tax. The San Andreas fault line follows the I-10 but moves a bit North following the hills south of the 10 and goes right through the middle of desert hot springs and then follows the mountains into San Bernardino. I discovered this after looking at real estate in the high part of desert hot springs after talking to a geologist.

Palm Springs has become an entitled nasty place to live with so many air b nb allowed your head will spin the palm spring city council and code compliance are useless cost of living is high sce steals your retirement money healthcare is abysmal come here to die not good medical facilities at all and did I say crime is so high for such a small town lots of home robberies lots of homeless people weather is abysmal with climate change last year we had Over 10 days at 125. People here are not friendly at all and tourists are destroying the vibe here thank god I sold my home and am leaving been here a decade god waiting ground and home to the most pathetic democratic governments in California
